Best for its simplicity and ease of use

Refilling my previous oil bottle is always the issue since I have to remove the tight lid and you cannot get around of having your finger get oily.I love this bottle. You can refill it in no time. No hassles and no messy oil in your fingers. This is also perfect for the vinegar because the lid is oak. My previous bottle has a metal spout which was corroded after several months. The pair is very convenient and very beautiful in the kitchen. It is made by a Swedish company Sagaform which placed premium on artistic and innovative design. This is the item that everybody should have in their kitchen.

    Worth it

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my mother, who is REALLY hard to shop for and isn’t afraid to let you know when she doesn’t like something. She does enjoy home goods and wine, so I gave this carafe a shot.I was a little worried that the glass would look cheap at such a low price, but it was fine. The oak stopper was also nice, and protrudes enough that you don’t struggle to remove it. It’s a bit more unusual than the standard carafe and quite simple and beautiful. My mom loved it and used it during the Christmas party that same night so she could show it off to everyone.

    Beautiful and functional

Looks beautiful and everyone asks where I bought them. Good quality. One star off because the spout drips oil a bit and the wooden ball gets oily and sticky over time if you don’t wipe down the neck area each time you pour.

    Attractive and useful carafe

A very nice carafe with a decorative but useful oak stopper. My only complaint is that it is a bit difficult to clean, but I also recognize that it is because of the shape. We enjoy it.

good size, looks nicethere are 2-3 glass imperfections (long sliver-like bubbles) within the neckalso the mouth/lip is pretty thick squared off glass which is not perfectly level causing large drips every time you pourhowever it’s a cheap decanter so I wasn’t expecting top quality

    Arrived boken…

This bottle are really cool looking and I was excited about having such trendy bottles. Unfortunately, one bottle arrived broken (they were not packaged well). Please correct me if I’m wrong as I didn’t have much time to inspect the bottles before I sent them back. It appears they don’t have a secure lid. The ball just kind of sits on top of the glass. This is good for keeping dust out while at the dinner table but it doesn’t seem like they are very practical for everyday use, in high traffic areas, where there is a chance they can be knocked over. I ended up returning them and getting my money back.

Sturdy glass and well made the only snag with the design is the wood ball is somewhat difficult to remove. As you can see from the photo, the ball sits with the equator on the same plane as the mouth of the jar so you need to work a little to get the ball off. Other than that, it’s a great sturdy design and I like it.

    A Nice Carafe

What can I say, I have a love/dislike relationship with this carafe. I love its shape and that the glass is a little thicker than some others I’ve seen. It does a fine job of aerating wine. I also love that it has a stopper, BUT I’ve come to dislike the fact the stopper is made of oak. If wine is left in the carafe for a period of time with the stopper on (like overnight), it ends up having a peculiar taste the next time you drink it. The wine tends to taste a bit like the oak stopper smells. I’ll most likely end up buying a separate crystal stopper and using that instead.

    carafe

This carafe is great. It looks like it won’t fit a bottle of wine, but if you pour a standard bottle (750) it fills to exactly the right height, where it gets maximum aeration. The oak stopper didn’t add as much flavor as some other reviewers have said, but it is definitely stylish.I get a lot of compliments on it but more importantly you get your investment paid back after you realize you can take ordinary boxed wine and make it taste like a $20 bottle.

Very sophisticated serviceable glass bottles with wood toppers.

Sofisticated serviceable glass little bottles with very original wood ball top, they are multiple ways to be used for example to stored different kinds of condiments or olive oil and vinegar, indeed the design is something to talk about and I’m happy to kept them for myself, they also are a great item as a gift for birthdays or holidays. On the minus side is for the packing since they come protect with Styrofoam and we all know that is not recyclable I will be very happy if the company who make them can use something more sustainable to protect this items please please please we all need to be more conscious about how to help our planet, little by little we can became the generation that will stop the horrific harm that we have done to our earth, maybe this comment should not be wrote in this review but we all have to take a step towards a better way to protect and implement our thoughts. I truly recommend this product since is even more beautiful in person you won’t be disappointed.

    Best dispenser

Been looking everywhere for a oil/vinegar/soy sauce dispenser that has no rubber stopper. My parents use to have a dispenser with the rubber stopper and it gets so annoying cause hair and dusts gets stuck and needs to be cleaned almost after each use. This is the best one I’ve found.Sturdy glass container with a stopper that isn’t rubber. It has a wooden stopper instead. Love how it looks!Only thing I don’t like is that the stopper isn’t good if you use any DARK liquid like balsamic vinegar or soy sauce. The liquid takes time to fully drain down the side so when you put the stopper back it creates that dark curve. It kind of stains the oak. So I would have to have the stopper off for maybe 5 minutes or even longer before putting the stopper back so it won’t stain. Or, use a paper towel to wipe it off around the rim where it sits.I think you have to coat the stoppers in oil if you are to use it for any other liquids. Over all it’s great!

Nice carafe, but check glass quality for tiny air bubbles! (+ cleaning tip)

We received the carafe about two years ago, but only discovered long after using it that the glass shows a tiny air bubble near the bottom (part where wine content covers it). This could conceivably cause to be a weak point, but it has nevertheless held up very well in daily use. The carafe is of relatively thin glass, but still very strong and has a very appealing form. The wooden ball holds up well and did’t crack, but of course discolored slightly when coming in contact with red wine. That is not disturbing to us and gives some cachet to it.TIP: Some red wines may cause staining on the inside of the glass carafe, for which these fancy flexible brushes are being sold at the risk of breaking the carafe’s neck. We have tried recommended alternatives, like denture cleaning tables, but find it highly ineffective and worry about the smell and residual taste. Please do what many experienced sommeliers do; use the amount of 4-5 finely crushed egg shells in some lukewarm water and swirl gently around. You’ll see the straining disappear before your eyes and the carafe wil again be crystal clear. The entire process should take about five minutes or less, of course depending on the staining.

Looks better on the counter than the cardboard box the wine came in 🙂

This works well, looks okay (I’d prefer a more contemporary look but that’s just me), and presents a whole lot better than a wine box sitting on the kitchen counter. Easy to fill, easy to handle, easy to pour from. Not that I drink a lot of wine or anything (moi?), but it holds enough that it doesn’t require frequent refills. Another reviewer thought the glass was too thick; I found it to be appropriately sturdy especially for use on, say, a glass table or granite/stone counter. Thin glass chips or breaks easier than thicker glass and this doesn’t feel prone to that as opposed to, e.g., a crystal glass. I do not drain it after each use and have noticed no unpleasantness from the wood stopper as another reviewer observed, even after leaving wine in it for a couple of days. If I do there is a glass stopper available on Amazon that I’ll try but I’d recommend seeing how you like it as-is before you consider adding that. Nice little piece of dress-up for the low-rent oenophile.

    Exactly like the picture

It’s exactly like the picture, medium size not to big but not to small. Just right . Makes the kitchen look better. Its hard to clean tho. I just spray soap and add a little hot water and shake it. That’s how I wash it. But over all I love it.

    Beautiful Carafe and Stopper

I love the oak stopper at the top of this carafe. I was looking for a glass item of this size and shape to keep in my bedroom overnight in case I got thirsty, which happens often. I have a water cooler with spring water on another level of the house. Going up and down stairs during the night is a pain. The oak stopper is what sold me on the carafe. I didn’t want any plastic, even as a lid. This is a fantastic and amazing looking solution. The stopper does not seal the carafe. If you were to tilt the carafe liquid would pour out around the stopper. If you’re looking for an airtight, spill-proof seal at the top, this is not the item for you. If you are looking for something as I described above, or in similar situations, this carafe and stopper are perfect.

    Perfectly Elegant!

I bought this for my husband to hold white wine in because he already had a different Segaform wine carafe that holds his red wine. We absolutely love it! They look so nice together on our table! The oak stopper is exactly what we were looking for, gives it a nice rustic look while still looking elegant enough for a dinner party. It fits perfectly with no gaps and keep the gnats out so you can enjoy having wine on the patio! While others complain about the glass being too thin and “cheap” looking, I have to disagree. I’m a very clumsy person and have broken many glass dishes, but this hasn’t in the 3 months I’ve had it! Of course I’m not banging it around though! Lol! I would recommend this for anyone who wants a nice glass carafe to hold white wine or anything else!

    Very beautiful carafe.

This was purchased as a Christmas gift. I thought it was very beautiful and I wish I purchased one for myself. My friend loved it and he said it holds a lot more then it would appear to. I saw the same item through another retailer and it was quite expensive. I love the stopper idea. Anyway, it is a classic design and very attractive. It is a good gift for the wine drinkers in your circle of friends.

    Nasty smell

Looks great but I’m taking two stars off for the ball- lid. It has a very nasty smell which just wouldn’t go away. I have washed it several times, kept it in the Sun, etc., but it still smells bad. So I cant even use the carafe

    Box wine blues…

Nice Carafe… believe it or not we found a nice box wine at Trader Joe’s. Having said that, it is still nice to have a bottle on the table when enjoying dinner. This carafe easily holds a liter of wine, pours well and the stopper is a nice touch. So far so good. Definitely happy with my purchase.R

Really nice looking and suited for clumsy people

I bought this as a gift for a friend. It is a medium sized carafe good for a 2 bottle mix or airing one at a time without looking like it’s empty. The oak stopper looks really good and the carafe material is durable. It can take a beating in the sink and being bumped on tables without shattering. From experience not all carafes are this strong.

Perfect size and look for any kitchen. Highly recommend.

I could not be happier with the look and feel of these bottles. They will fit into any kitchen design. I love the oak stoppers and could tell they had already been oiled before packaging. I’m sure I will need to apply mineral oil periodically to keep them from drying out but I don’t see that as being a problem.

This is a nice carafe. For some reason I thought it would be bigger. Maybe that’s just me. It does what it’s supposed to do and looks nice while doing it. I did notice that it pours really really well. Not too fast, not too slow. The oak ball is a nice touch. It does smell like something it shouldn’t when you pull it out of the box, but I am guessing it’s treated or that it’s from the packaging? But after I rinsed it in warm water and let it dry overnight, the smell went away. I get a lot of compliments on it. It’s a nice addition to my wine bar.

So far so good but it does drip.

So far the carafe seems well made and is certainly an attractive piece on the table. I’ll give it a little more time and review again however , although others’ feedback is contrary,I can’t pour a glass of wine without a drip running down the side of the carafe.2/16/2016 – the carafe is holding up nicely. I use it a lot. 🙂 . The pouring funnel certainly helps in the decanting process. The only problem, and I have it with similar bottles/decanters is that no matter what technique I use, I cannot pour it without a drip.

Exceeds expectations. A classy decanter for a reasonably low price.

Made in China for a Swedish company. Quality blemish-free crystal glass. Perfect size for a single 750 ml bottle of wine but it can hold more. The spout is thick and sturdy which makes it less likely to break or chip than thinner lip decanters. I highly recommend this decanter for its shape, easy of use and high class look. Dripping after pouring was not a problem. It comes with a removable wood ball that sits in the spout. It’s basically superfluous since the purpose of the decanter is to let the wine breathe, not stop it up. It might be useful for keeping dust out when storing the decanter in a cabinet or on a shelf, but I won’t be using it all.

    Really nice carafe

I like this carafe a lot, mostly because the shape does allow for wonderful aeration of wine and it pours wonderfully also. I actually like it so much that when I accidentally shattered it, I promptly bought it again. I tossed the oak stopper though because I did not want my wine picking up any oak flavor from it – instead purchased a separate glass ball stopper. My only complaint is that I wish it were a bit heavier, made with a bit thicker glass.

Great gift idea. Super sleek & reasonably priced.

I purchased this as a gift for our family’s white elephant gift exchange last Xmas. This was the most stolen gift out of the bunch! Very stylish and reasonably priced. The round oak stopper on top really makes it a unique piece. Paired with a bottle of wine, it makes for a great gift. Or just keep it for yourself!

    Affordable Perfection

This is an extremely well made Ship’s decanter for Red Wine and is on par with anything from Speigalau and various other European Crystal/Glass Makers. Riedel, Schott, and others are no better or worse. This goes head to head with the best and is a bit easier to pour from. The OAK Sphere top is perfect and very easy to remove with fingers, not having to tip the decanter itself. The Sphere closes the decanter to wine that one may want to drink outside and thus prevents bugs etc… This is a VERY NICE Decanter. Don’t spent $200.00 for the same thing that’s not quite as nice… This one is 5/5 – Perfect…

    Solid

Its a solid decanter. Really makes a difference in drinkability, especially if you are drinking cheap-ish reds. It looks really good to and will make an excellent gift for a wine lover. It is hard to clean, but this shape is tricky so I can’t imagine too many good decanters that are also easy to clean. Buy the cleaning brush and problem solved.

    Wine Carafe with Oak Stopper

Excellent price but do not wash the oak stopper in the dish washer. The wooden stopper comes out of the water with a very rough surface once put in water. Otherwise great product. and would have given it five stars if not for the wooden stopper not doing well in wash water.

Great gift for a wine loving friend.

Bought this as a Christmas gift for a hard to shop for friend. He seemed genuinely pleased when he opened it. The carafe itself is very nice and the glass seems very clear. The real reason to buy this though is the stopper. It really is a beautiful solid piece of wood and it makes the whole thing an object to be appreciated in itself, beyond it’s utilitarian uses.

    Nice Quality

I gave my husband this for Christmas and he loves it! I havent put wine in it yet, Im a little nervous that a red will stain the stopper. It doesnt create an actual Sealed top but the Oak stopper is beautiful and the glass is a thick, high quality weight. Great gift!

  41. 3.0 out of 5 stars

    So so

Nice looking. Not drip free which is really inconvenient for oil dispenser. I fill just 1/3 of the bottle so to be able to wash it regularly. Wood ball is not smooth.

  42. 4.0 out of 5 stars

    elegant with one issue

Works great. Easy enough to clean. But as another review already pointed out, the wooden “cap” or sphere at the top takes on a “smell” which may be unpleasant to some and could even alter the taste of the wine over time. Maybe don’t use it? Still a great piece overall.

  43. 5.0 out of 5 stars

Works well and has a nice shape to leave on the counter

I’m not a wine superfan, so I couldn’t drink wine without this. I don’t know why anyone would want to drink wine straight from the bottle. Works well and has a nice shape to leave on the counter.

For the person who loves fancy items

I’m a practice person so I honestly don’t see the need in this but my mother loves fancy items and she loved this. The glass is thick enough to not break if accidentally placed hard on a hard surface like granite. The solid wood top is very nice as well.

  45. 5.0 out of 5 stars

    Sturdier than expected

Glass was thicker than I expected, leading to a sturdy feel to the carafe. The shape creates a nice flow around the inside of the glass when filling which helps aeration. Oak stopper is solid and fits well. I would highly recommend, as other reviews have, getting the drying rack. Balancing this on its top is possible but scary.
